Turkey's issuing a new illegal Navtex, in which it reserves the maritime region within the Greek continental shelf, south of Rhodes, for illegal seismic surveys, indicates that through its escalating provocative conduct, in violation of international legality, it has utter disregard of International Law.
Unfortunately, Turkey aims to weaken the region and increase tension dramatically. Simultaneously Turkey's repeatedly illegal actions, which challenge the constant appeal of the International Community, including the recent interpretations of the European Council on the immediate cessation of these actions, exposes Turkey even further.
Greece categorically condemns this unacceptable conduct, which essentially further threatens the prospects of a structural dialogue and calls on Turkey to immediately withdraw the illegal Navtex issued on the early hours of the 25th October.
Under the circumstances, Nikos Dendias, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs issued instructions for a demarche to be made immediately to Turkey and for Greece's allies and EU partners to be informed of Turkey's continuous provocative conduct.
