A SPECIAL EUROPEAN SUMMIT ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS

The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotskis went to Brussels on Thursday to participate in a special European  Council Summit on foreign affairs, including Euro-Turkish relations in the eastern Mediterranean, according to the international press.

In a  letter to the European leaders, on Wednesday, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, said: "The EU's objective is to have space for constructive dialogue with Turkey to achieve stability and security in the whole region and to ensure full respect for the sovereignty and the sovereign rights of all the EU members."

"This will only be possible if Turkey engages constructively," Mr Michel said about the exploratory talks and about Turkey insisting it will proceed with drilling for gas and oil off Greek island and on the Greek and Cypriot continental shelf and after twice sending energy research vessel Oruc Reise and warships off Kastellorizo.

"All options remain on the table to defend the legitimate interests of the EU and its member states," he declared without saying what they would be and would certainly exempt Turkish president Erdogan.
