LATEST GREEK NEWS

Greece had set an example of curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the first months of the pandemic, while other European countries had extremely high numbers in infected cases and deaths.

Unfortunately, the last two months, there is an alarming increase in infected cases, critically sick and deaths, mainly due to youngsters, who after being very careful during the day, in the evenings, after a drink or two, gather in squares, without wearing masks and not keeping distances, thus spreading the plague.

Greek USA foreign policy experts participated, yesterday, in an online Webinar, organised by Democrats Abroad showing how Joe Biden's diplomacy can best serve the Greek USA relations.

Cypriots watch helplessly as Turkey colonises occupied Varosha.  Hundreds of Cypriots gathered, yesterday, near Varosha, the once cosmopolitan beach resort of Famagusta, to protest against Erdogan's decision to open the ghost town, despite UN resolutions.

Over 39.000 residents of Varusha fled after the Turkish invasion, turning it into a ghost town.  Since 1984, rulings, including United Nations resolutions, have called on Turkey to hand over the control of Varusha to the UN, so that the residents can return to their homes.  The Security Council resolution 550 (1984) considers any attempts to settle any part of Verousha by people other than the inhabitants, as inadmissible, and calls for the transfer of this area to the administration of the UN.

In the last decade, there has been an astronomic rise in the demand of Greek yoghurt, outside Greece, especially in the USA. Once hard to find outside Greece, Greek yoghurt is now available in hundreds of flavours and varieties, in supermarkets across the world.  That is understandable as yogourt, especially the thinner kind, is recommended by doctors and nutritionists for health benefits.
