STATUE OF HERCULES UNEARTHED IN ANCIENT GREEK CITY OF ARZANOI

A statue was found during the excavations carried out along Pernkolas Stream in the ancient Greek city of  Arnazoi in Turkey.

Arzanoi, which is on the tentative list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites gave up a headless marble statue of the semi-god known as Herakles, Hercules, in Greek mythology on Friday,

Professor Ghohkhan Ciscun, the chief of the excavations at Arzanoi, stated to the interviewer from Hurriyet that the statue is compatible with the "rising Hercules statue typology."  He stated, "Although the head part was not preserved we can understand that it is Hercules due to the lion/s skin on it."
