ANCIENT GREEK MEDICINE COMES BACK TO LIFE

Greeks take their traditions according to those related to food, holidays, spirits, and arts which have persisted for thousands of years.

Those practices which have helped them in healing disease and the maintenance of good health are referred to as Traditional Greek Medicine.

Traditional medicine uses herbal teas, nutritious foods, massage, exercise, water therapy, and much more. It works by cleansing the organ system, reducing inflammation, and improving the body's healing capabilities.   Traditional Greek Medicine is similar to other ancient medical systems. It is diagnosed through observation, and consideration of the elements of nature in the body and relies on powerful medical plants.

Although traditional medicine is not widely accepted in the modern medical system in Greece, there are many other countries that combine their ancient wisdom with modern techniques.

This is why Greek doctors found methods of Asian healing such as yoga, and acupuncture more easily than they can find a school of their own.

Of course, many Greeks practice traditional medicine without any special classical home remedies that are still common in Greece. They are taught by their grandmothers and other elders based on generations of experience.

They rely on ingredients that are easy to find and safe for use. These ingreients were used to heal common ailments such as upset stomach. headaches and joint pains.

The most common type of home remedy is a tea made from medicinal plants. Traditional people go to the nearby mountains to collect medical plants such as chamomile. mint and sage. Greeks usually grow their own medical plants in pots at home.

St John's wart flowers are soaked in olive oil helps to heal wounds.  Garlic reduces high blood pressure and sage is a painkiller.
