A funerary stele daated to the 4th century BC that was returned to Greece by British auhorities was revealed to the public at the Epigraphical Museum in Athens on Tuesday.
The stele's procenance is lost because it was a product of smuggling. But its stylistic details and the fine-grained Pentelic marble it was made of indicate it was made in Attika.
It is 87.5 cm tall, 37 cm wide and 10 cm thick and its topent has the familiar triangle shape of a pediment which once had a painted plant decorated on it.
