HISTORY OF MERMAIDS AND THEIR ORIGIN IN ANCIENT GREEK SIRENS

Mermaids folklorish creatures with heads and upper body of a woman and lower body of fish appear in many literatures across the world.

Sirens were dangerus figures in Greek mythology, the fearsome creatures were depicted as half-woman and half-bird who sat on rocks by the sea singing beautiful, seductive songs.

According to Homer's The Odyssey, sirens tried to entrap sailors with songs and causing shipwrecks.

But Homer put beas-wax in his ears and instructed his crew to do likewise so they managed to arrive safe in Ithaka according to the Odyssey

PLEASE DON'T FORGET THAT THE PARTHENON MARBLES MUST RETURN TO GREECE.
