APRIL FOOLS ANCIENT ORIGINS AND THE TRADITION OF GREECE


 The custom of setting aside a day, April Fool's Day for playing harmless pranks upon one/s neighbor has been relatively common in the world historically. 

There are three scenarios regarding the origins of April Fool's Day:

The ancient Roman feast of Helaria which was celebrated on the 1st April 

Another version says that the tradition originated from the Celts who were mighty fishermen the tradition of telling lies on April 1st is deeply linked with fishing that started on April 1st. 

The French ceebrated New Year's day on April 1st telling small, harmless lies to each other,

In Greece April Fool's Day is celebrated by telling harmless lies to each other and whoever could trick the victim would be lucky for the rest of the year!
