GREEKS CELEBRATE SAINT GEORGE'S DAY IN STYLE IN ARACHOVA

The celabration of Saint George's day on April 23rd is one of the most important feasts in Greece and Arachova in particular where the Saint is the town's parton.

For days this town in central Greece prepared at the local festival panigiri which has it's roots at Byzantine times. The tradition survived the Ottoman occupation and the residents of the town roasted lamb on the spit like at Easter while singing and dancing and cracking red eggs.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET THAT THE PARTHENON MARBLES MUST RETURN TO GREECE
