SPECIAL EPIPHANY KOLIVA HAVE ANCIENT GREEK ROOTS



Epiphany Koliva a version of food eaten at funerals in Eastern Europe, called Fotokoliva, has been prepared for centuries in Greece. 

The feast of Epiphany, celebrated on the 6th of January, plays a fundamental role in the Orthodox world almost as much as Christmas and Easter.

Travelling around Greece, we can find many cusroms related to the celebraions held on the twelf day after Christmas when the Orthodox people believe that when the Three Wise Men visited Jesus and when he was baptized by His cousin John the Baptist.
