1 cup navy beans soaked overnight and drained
4 cups water
1/2 cup ketchup
1.2 cup honey
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 small onion, peeled and chopped
Place beans in a large saucepan cover with 4 cups of water bring to the boil and cook gently for 1 hour, and set aside.
Preheat oven to 190 C (375 F) and stir in ketchup, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and chili in a small bowland set aside.
Once the beans have simmered for 1 hour drain and reserve the cooking liquid. Spoon the beans into a 1/4 quart casserole add the onion, honey, cooking liquid to cover the beans by 1 inch.
Cover the dish and bake for 10 minutes, then lower the heat to 180 C (350 F) and bake for 6 hours stirring several times and set aside to cool a little before serving.
