The Greek fire was a mysterious incendary weapon that helped its sovreinty for many centuries using a unique formula.The Greeks of Byzantium kept the enemies away from their vast lands which once spanned all of Southern Europe, Nortth Africa and Asia Minor.

More importantly the Greek Fire saved Constantinople from the attack against them by the Arabs.
