THE PANDEMIC IN GREECE

Two health experts tried to assure the Greek public of the safety of the coronavirus vaccine and encouraging participation in the national vaccination campaign, as Greece and other European countries, received the confirmation from the block’s health authorities to start the programme.

Also, the Minister of Health, Nikos Chardalias, expressed confidence that the country would have completed vaccination coverage for COVID-19 by June 2021.

The pandemic is, unfortunately, causing thousands of deaths, universally, and hundreds in Greece.  It is a war with an invisible enemy but, hopefully, not unconquerable because, we could certainly manage to check the spread by wearing masks, keeping distances, and staying at home.  However, we are at the beginning of the battle which might become challenging in the following months.

Every evening we are informed by the Minister of Health, Nikos Chardalias and Sotiris Chiordas, an infectious disease specialist, of the coronavirus spread, the number of seriously sick patients and deaths in our country.

The virus is obviously transmitted by close contact and the doctors tell us:  “ We are here for you in the hospitals and you must stay at home for us.  Do not behave as if you are healthy, stay at home to prevent getting sick.”

A desperate cry from our wonderful doctors who plead for common sense so that we do not do what we oughtn’t to, in order to remain safe from this deadly disease.

We have to be patient and cautious for a few months until the anti-COVID-19 vaccine will be offered, broadly, to the European public by the early summer of 2021.
