CELEBRATION OF THE EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS

 

                                       

 



In 2021, European Heritage Days will be celebrating Inclusive and Diverse Heritage of, by and for everyone.


The European Heritage Days are the most widely celebrated participatory cultural event shared by the citizens of Europe and the European Union since 1999.

 

The strength of the European Heritage days has always been its ability to bring people together, to appreciate the rich heritage and culture at their vicinity.  During 2021 and beyond,  it is ensured that it will include as many people as possible.

 

Greek archaeological sites will be open to the public for free, to celebrate the European Heritage Days, according to the Greek Ministry of Culture.  The Ministry added that the annual events held by the European Council  and the European Union promotes the continent’s diverse cultural heritage and encourages greater tolerance for other cultures, across Europe.

 

The Greek Ministry of Culture added that events at 106 localities in Greece will include music and dance performances, plays, book and photograph exhibitions and tours to archaeological sites.

 

“Through stories big and small, visitors will learn more about cities and sites and discover stories in the heart of the cities, in their neighbourhood and their streets”, it continued.

 

This is the programme:

Athens, stories of the city and its antiquities.

Underwater archaeological tours of Aegina.

Tours at the Vravrona Museum in Attica.

A walk in ancient Patras, following the footsteps of Pausanias.

A concert at Kale Fort at Ioannina.

The children and Larissa’s hidden secrets.  A simple explanation for children aged 10-12.

The Anatolian Army at Thessaloniki 1915-1981 a photo exhibition and lectures at the Byzantine Culture Museum in Thessaloniki.

An evening concert at the Archaeological Museum at Chania, Crete.

In Cornaro’s neighbourhood celebrating the 16th century Cretan author, Vincenzo Cornaro with a couplet competition, including music and dance in Piscokefalo, Setia Crete.
