CORONAVIRUS IN GREECE

                         LATEST CORONAVIRUS CASES IN GREECE

Greece has confirmed 2700 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.  Unfortunately, the death toll has, also, risen tremendously.

The hospitals are packed with COVID -19 patients and the Greek National Health System is under severe strain.  This is due to the recklessness and frivolity of certain people who organise meetings and parties, and huge politically led demonstrations where people do not keep distances and other restrictions, as they ought to, thus spreading this very dangerous disease.

Old people, like I, have already been inoculated against COVID-19 but we are extremely concerned about younger ones who have not been injected yet and might contract this deadly plague. So, we urge them to be extremely careful, to stay at home and to avoid meeting with their friends.  An unheard of and tragic situation.

I am certain that historians are already writing about this terrible period in our lives. Faced with the magnitude of the pandemic, it seems impossible to find words to describe what the world is going through.  What we are all facing is something we have never dealt with before.  Like the fear of contagion, the challenge of strict quarantine, that we are now, also, experiencing in Greece, and the possibility of tragic major losses both in human lives and economically.

Let us all be extra cautious and pray for better days.
