A 37-day-old baby boy developed Acute Respiratory Distress, after contracting COVID -19, unfortunately, died yesterday, becoming the youngest victim of this terrible disease in Greece, despite the tremendous efforts made by the doctors and medical staff of the hospital. The news was announced by the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias.
The newborn had been treated for approximately two weeks at the intensive care unit of the children's hospital Agia Sophia in Athens.
The Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his grief and most sincere condolences to the baby's family.
We were all stunned by the tragic event. I, also wish to express my deepest sorrow and sympathy to the unfortunate parents and close relatives.
