ELEFSINA'S OIL MILL TO BECOME AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Elefsina, located near Athens, will get a new archaeological museum to be erected on the premises of the city's oil mill.
A landmark site of the area, the oil mill, every summer, turns into a cultural site, hosting concerts and theatre performances, as part of the local Aeschylia Festival.
The oil mill was recently acquired by the Ministry of Culture from the National Bank of Greece, and the ministry's plans include the creation of a new museum that will house some of the city's most significant archaeological findings.
The project is expected to promote Elefsina's cultural heritage as the Greek city is preparing for its term as the Capital of Europe 2023.
