ANCIENT GREEK

                                                   Ancient Greek Meander

Ancient Greek, the only language that is spoken and written since Homer’s time, without great changes, is the foundation stone of our civilisation.

Byron Nikolaides, a Greek entrepreneur, and director of LanguageCert (a certification body that deals with the assessment of language skills), who travelled all over the world before the coronavirus disease, realised the tremendous dynamic of the ancient Greek language.  Moreover, he noticed that the language charmed and impressed people of many nationalities with its classical quality.

Mr Nikolaides discovered during his travels, that ancient Greek and Latin were chosen languages to learn, since the 18th century.  Today hundred thousand of children choose to learn these languages for 4-6 years in high school.

It is considered a great privilege by all Europeans to speak and write ancient Greek and Latin because it helps them to learn other languages and makes them appear cultured.

People all over the world, while learning ancient Greek, are also instructed about Greek mythology, history and civilisation.  They talk with enthusiasm about Homer and other ancient Greek poets and authors, and they constantly remind us all, of the abundance of foreign words with Greek etymology.

Large publishing companies of Oxford and Cambridge publish books teaching ancient Greek for both beginners and advanced learners.  The Polis Institute of Jerusalem has published a fantastic new method of learning ancient Greek.

Amazingly, children’s books are circulating, like The Small Prince Sherlock Holms, Don Camillo and Aladdin’s Lantern, that have been translated by foreign authors into ancient Greek.

Being very proud of my ancestors, I wish to thank the famous newspaper ESTIA, of whom I am a subscriber, for the important and valuable information on the language of our ancestors, ancient Greek.
