TOURISM REOPENS IN GREECE ON JUNE 15TH AND CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS

As the Greek islands are preparing to host their first tourists as the county opens up to foreign travel beginning on June 15th, all hospitals, healthcare centres, as well as floating medical units, will be opening on a 24-hour basis.

Extensive sample testing for COVID 19 will take place, collecting data for epidemiological research and tracking information.  Authorities say that they have established a radical plan for early identification and treatment of possible coronavirus cases. Greece has augmented precautionary measures by increasing its health facilities and allowing for further additions depending on tourist numbers and the expansion of the disease.  Also, the capacity for emergency medical transport by air and sea is growing and coronavirus screening will be intensified.

The Greek Prime Minister Addressing the Press in Santorini

"It is a great pleasure to be here in Santorini to send a message: Greece is ready to welcome tourists this summer, by putting their safety and health as a number one priority," said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotskis to numerous foreign journalists, during a visit to the beautiful island of  Santorini.   Santorini is renowned for its antiquities, its fantastic black beaches, its famous sunsets and its excellent food.

He also told the press, after a visit to the General Hospital of the National Health System at Thera, that as this is an extremely difficult summer and that it was the government's intention to welcome tourists without making reductions on health safety and security.  These measures, obviously. also included the local residents.

This was a powerful message to the world from Greece, informing them that all tourists will receive an exceptionally warm and hospitable welcome, this very crucial summer.  Welcome, dear Friends and please be completely sure that you will be thoroughly safe in Greece!
