The Deputy Governor of Penninsylvania and Senator, John Fetterman, made a clear and stong starement regarding religious freedom in Turkey, the treatment of the Ecumenichal Patriachate, but also Turkey's behaviour towards the Greek Orthodox Church, supporting the Greek-American community to the utmost.
The great winner of the midterm elections in Penninsylvania to openly take a stand describing Turkey as a "region of concern" for him and exressing his concern about the confiscation of thousands of properties of the Ecumenical Patriachate by Turkey and the coversion of Hagia Sophia to a mosque, the closure of the Halki seminary but also Ankara's practice of intervening in the Ecumemichal Patriachal succession and his support that Hagia Sophia becomes a museum and not a mosque.
