Six people have been killed and more than 94 injured as an explosion rocked the busy pedestrian street in central Constantinople, an incident that president Erdogan called an incident "That smells terrorism".
Ambulances raced to the scene on the packed Istiklal avenue which police cordoned off. The area in the Beyoglu district of Turkey's largest city had been crowded with shoppers, tourists, and families with young children.
"Our people can be assured that the culprits behind the attack will be punished as they deserve," Erdogan added at a press conference.
Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
