The founder of the child charity "Ark of the World" priest Antonios Papanikolaou, his wife, and another nine persons are being investigated for child abuse.
The Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece, Ieronymos, made a statement concerning the allegations of child abuse linked to child charity "Kivotos tou Kosmou" Greek for "Ark of the World" by members of the Greek Orthodox Clergy, Father Antonios Papanicolaou and he had ordered an investigation and forbidden him his priestly duties until the case is solved.
"We in the Church and the rest of the Greek society are shocked to the utmost degree and the church will not tolerate and cover up shameful and heinous behavior and actions," he said and added that the Church was at the disposal of the authorities to investigate fully the case.
