MUSHROOM TART


 
Crust;
500 gr plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup of water 

Filling:
500 g mushrooms, washed, patted dry and cut into florets
2 tbsp butter
1 onion, peeled and grated
2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
2 tbsp flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Water

For the crust rub flour, baking powder and butter together until it resembles breadcrumbs add the water until a soft. pliable dough is formed, Roll out the dough and line a round Pyrex dish, cover with a weight and bake in an oven preheated to 180 C  (350 F) until crisp and golden.

For the filling saute the onion and garlic in butter until it looks translucent, season to taste sprinkle with flour  and drizzle with water until the sauce becomes thick and bubbly.  Spoon it into the crust and serve sliced with crusty brown bread and a cheese of your choice
