 GREECE PROTESTS TO TURKEY OVER DJ'S PERFORMANCE AT SOUMELA MONASTERY

 

 

Greece’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that a footage showing people dancing to electronic music played by a DJ at the Orthodox Christian Soumela  monastery in Turkey was “offensive and desecration of the monument.” 

 

The ministry called the Turkish authorities “to do the utmost to prevent such acts from being repeated and resect the site, a candidate for UNESCO’s world heritage sites.  The recent images that were displayed on social media in which people seem to be dancing in the area of the historical monastery of Panaghia Soumela a desecration of this sacred monument,” it said.  A video released on social media showed a DJ  performing at the monastery.

 

What would happen if the same took place in a mosque?  Naturally, we Europeans are opposed to this behaviour because its sacrilege.  It is extremely unfortunate that we have such disagreeable neighbours, we don’t mean the people but the Turkish politicians who allow bellicose incidents to happen.
