The cultural Egnatia Odos.
The Castle Network from Byzantium to the Ottoman Empire.
“The five routes are divided into two geographical zones,”
said the Minister. The first covering
Northern Greece connecting archaeological sites and Museums in Eastern
Macedonia, Thrace and Epirus with Thessaloniki as its center.
The second starting at Epirus and moving Southward covering
the region of the Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Central Greece with the
Peloponnese being its center.
“The project’s main goal is to develop cultural tourism, in a
balanced way, in all regions of the country”, said Mrs. Mendoni explaining why
the region of Attica has been excluded.
“Attica has been excluded because it accounts for 44.7% for
archaeological sites and 46.5% for museums, “she said.
The Minister added that 70% of the works will be completed
by 2022 and the 30% by 2023 with the completion date set for 2023.
