Athens in the 19th Century
December 2020 was the warmest in Athens is 1860 of average temperatures
during the night 11.7 C (53 F). The first 10 days of January 2021 at the
centre of Athens was 18.3 C (65 F) maximum and 12.1 C (54 F) minimum.
These temperatures are the highest recorded in Athens during the first 10
days of January in the last century and a half.
January 17th 2021
Greece braces for more snow and sub-zero temperatures,
starting on Sunday according to the National Observatory of Athens. Dense snow is expected in Southern Greece as
far south as the mountains of Crete and the northern islands of Chios and Limnos. Attica
should see snow in the mountains with rain and sleet in other areas, while some
roads are shut to traffic.
