WE STAY AT HOME
STAY AT HOME (Menoume spiti) has become the new motto in our
lives, and most of us obey this request made by the Greek government for our protection against the coronavirus. We must stay at home in order to prevent the spreading or contracting the disease, which is regrettably extremely catching. The whole world is at war against the coronavirus which, also, has very unfavourable
repercussions for the economy.
How long will this quarantine last? Nobody knows, as famous virologists have said,
because it is a brand new disease, and no one has an answer. The only thing, about which the doctors are sure is that we are at the beginning of a very serious health crisis, which is disheartening and alarming. Will
it last three, five or more years? We must, however, prevail and endure it.
Unfortunately, many doctors and medical staff, worldwide,
have contracted this terrible ailment and are, therefore, in quarantine. We express our deep admiration and respect for the doctors and nurses who risk their lives while saving ours, and we wish everybody who is sick, a speedy and thorough recovery.
All around the world, strict measures are being taken to abate
the coronavirus and scientists are working hard against the clock trying to
discover a vaccine or, even better, a medicament against it. Fortunately, there are optimistic signs that soon a medicine will be produced and used against this terrible plague.
As we are compelled to stay at home, let us all take this
opportunity to learn a new language, listen to music, improve crafts that we already know, like carpentry,
knitting or crocheting. Also, let us go for lonely walks, rearrange the
furniture in our homes, take care of the garden and place vases with flowers and herbs in
every room.
If you live with your
family, create a much closer relationship with each of your loved ones, trying to understand and boost their needs and ambitions. Listen to music, watch
interesting films, read books and discuss them, with each other. Also, cook cheap but tasty gourmet meals together. All these actions are true indications of authentic love, so keep it up, dear friends.
