DAEDALUS AND ICARUS

One of the ancient Greek myths was that of Daedalus and Icarus, faithfully recorded by the Roman poet Ovid in his Metamorphosis.

According to the story, Daedalus a mythical inventor, created wings made of feathers and wax and wanted to escape from Crete where he and his son Icarus were kept prisoners by King Minos.

Ignoring his father's warning Icarus flew to close to the sun, the wax melted and Icarus had a tragic death leaving his father constantly grieving for him.
