CONSTANTINE THE FORMER KING OF GREECE HAS BEEN HOSPITALIZED


 


Constantine, the former King of Greece has been hospialized for several days in intensive care in a privste hospital in Athens and is in a serious condition, according to Greek State Broadcaster ERT.

Although not intubated the former monarch,82, is reported to have limited action with his enironment. 

His children have rushed to his bedside from their permanent residents from abroad and his sisters Sophia and Irene are also expected to arrive from Spain.

Constantine, who reseigned as the last King of Greece from 1964 until the abolition of the Greek monarchy in 1974, has been confined to a wheelhair and has been hospitalized several times.

He previously resided in Porto Cheli in the eatern Poloponnese before returning to Athens  in 2021 to be closer to hospitals     

Constantine and his wife, Anne Marie lived in London until 2013, when the political climate in Greece was deemed sufficiently calm to take up residence in the country once more.  

The former King has since repeated said that he  recognizes and fully supports the Grek Republic, stating at a TIME interview:

"If the Greek people decide that they want a republic, they are entitled to enjoy it." 

After the abolition of  monarchy Greece took over the Tatoi Palace, the Estate of the Royal Family located just north of Athens. The former King was compansated a small amount of the property. 

Greece is now hoping to covert this stunning estate which was left abandonned for the last fifty years into a hub of culture, history and luxury. 

In addition to shops, restaurants and natural trails, a luxury hotel qnd spa will be consentrated on the property.
