Today marks the day in 1453, when the milliard old Greek presence in Asia Minor suffered its fatal blow. Tuesday, the 29^th May 1453, a black day for Greek history, when the invading Ottoman Turkish armies conquered the city of Constantinople, marking the end of the Byzantine Empire.
