Kyiv TV tower was hit by a Russian missile, killing five,
while Moscow threatens with high precision strikes. Another missile missed the tower and hit the
Holocaust memorial.
Volodymyr Zelensky in a passionate video link addressed the
European Parliament appealing to them to “prove that you are with us and will
help us. “It is light over darkness”. It had been a particularly tragic morning for
Ukraine after two cruise missiles hit Freedom Square, at Kharkiv, as the
Ukrainian president described this attack the translator grew emotional and
began to choke.
“This is the price of freedom,” Zelensky said, “We are
fighting for our land and for our freedom,” and he added, “Nobody is going to
break us, we are strong, we are Ukrainians.”
The president went on to say that Ukraine is fighting “for
our survival” and being “equal members of Europe,” adding “I believe that today,
we are showing everybody exactly who we are.” He concluded “Do prove that you are with us. Do prove you will not let us go. Do prove that you are Europeans, and that
life will be over death, light over darkness.”
He received a standing ovation from the members of the European Union!
