SYROS THE CINDERELLA OF THE CYCLADES

With a farm of fork-food scenes, faded starlet of the main port, and sleepy coves of adventures it's a wonder that Syros isn't on the mainstream map of Greek islands, Lucy Thackary discovers its charms:

"We sprinkle handfuls of fragrant rose petals over the white, linen tablecloth adding a stalk or two of savory scented thyme here and there.  The shade from the pergola above dapples the tablescapes of aromatic flora and linen napkins as a rose made a handful of meters away enthusiastically into.  As we sip we turn to look at the green-gold grapevines."
