Independence Day is a federal holiday in the USA
commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on the 4th
of July 1776. The Congress declared that
the 13 American colonies were no longer subject to the King of Britain, George
III, and were now free and independent states.
Independence Day is commonly celebrated with fireworks, parades, barbeques, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies associated with the customs and the traditions of the United States.
