On the 15thAugust, the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates the Dormition of the Mother of God especially in the beautiful church on the island of Tinos and Paros and the Church of Panagia Soumela in Northern Greece, but also, in churches all over the country that are dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
Many in our country are called Maria, Marios, Despina, and Panagiota,
Panagiotis, which are very popular names. It is customary to pay visits and send presents
to those who celebrate, obviously keeping distances and wearing masks due to coronavirus pandemic. It is
terrible that one cannot even kiss one's family members so:
PLEASE BE VACCINATED AGAINST COVID -19 SO THAT YOUR BELOVED
FAMILIES, FRIENDS, THE WORLD AND YOU WILL REMAIN HEALTHY AND SAFE.
