JAPAN MAY BAN SPECTATORS AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS

The Tokyo Olympic Games’ planned spectator limit of 10.000 people is to be evaluated, with the possibility of having no spectators at all.

Sources confirmed on Friday that the Japanese government and other organizers of the Tokyo Olympics are planning to host a meeting next week to discuss the issue.

With Tokyo still at a lockdown as the coronavirus cases are rising steadily since mid-June.  What will the fate of the 2021 Olympic Games be?

The Japanese Prime Minister, speaking to the press made it clear that the Tokyo Olympics may go ahead without spectators.

“I have made it clear,” the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga said that “Having no spectators at the Tokyo Olympics is a possibility. We shall take steps as we prioritize the safety and security of the people.”

Covid infections have been on the rise in Japan. Tokyo has been particularly hardly hit.

A new study by the National Institution of Infectious Diseases working with the University Research was published last week. The study forecasts that even in the best-case scenario cases in Tokyo will likely reach 1.000 per day in July and 2.000 in August.

A further increase due to the Olympic Games could mean that hospital beds could run out in Tokyo by August, according to the same study.

Japan will proceed with the Tokyo Olympics despite concerns raised by Japanese health officials and others from around the world who worry about the outcome of such an enormous global event while the pandemic is raging there.

Let us say that our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this terrible disease and wishing them a speedy and total recovery.   And hoping that all people in the world will be inoculated against this terrible plague so that the Tokyo  Olympics will take place with both spectators and athletes being happy and healthy.

PLEASE DO FORGET TO BE INOCULATED AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS SO THAT YOU AND YOUR BELOVED FAMILIES REMAIN HEALTHY
