The 11th November was Alecos’, my beloved
husband’s, birthday. We always
celebrated the happy event with our cherished children and grandchildren. We loved each other dearly and as for me, he
was the love of my life. He was a very good father, a kind
and considerate man who always tried to help anyone in need, and moreover, he was a very keen
gardener. Needless to say that I miss him
terribly, his endless love, his solidarity, and his humour.
Also, the 11th November is called Poppy Day or Remembrance Day. It commemorates the end of World War I, during which, due to the horrors of trench warfare and heavy bombardments,16 million people, both soldiers and civilians were mercilessly killed. A real slaughter.
There can be nothing worse, in this world, than war. Problems between countries can, surely, be solved through dexterous and persistent diplomatic means, instead of deadly battles with innumerable casualties.
