THE 9.11 TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST THE USA

The Terrorist Attack on New York

The Pentagon in Flames

Today is the sad anniversary of four fatal terrorist attacks against the United States by the Islamic terrorist group al-Quaeda, on the morning of Tuesday, the 11th September 2001.   Unfortunately, these attacks left 2.996 innocent people dead and over 1000 injured, and according to the press it caused 10 billion dollars worth damage in property and infrastructure.   Also, much later, many people died of cancer and respiratory problems that were, apparently, caused by these disastrous attacks.

Four passenger aeroplanes of United Airlines and American Airlines were hijacked by 19 al Quaeda terrorists.  Two of these planes crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Centre burning them down to ashes, causing significant damages to the surrounding buildings and innumerable tragic victims.  The third plane hit the Pentagon setting it on fire, near Washington, and the fourth crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

This is considered the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and, according to Wikipedia the “single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers with 343 and 72 killed respectively”.  Moreover, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority officers lost their lives, while doing their duty, bravely fighting terror.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who lost their loved ones in these fatal terrorist attacks and our deep admiration and respect for the New York Fire Brigade, the New York Police officers and the Port Authority officers who risked their lives trying to save as many of their fellow men as possible.
