NO SAFE PLACE - ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTER DISCRIBES THE GAZA OFFICE ATTACK

A rush for escape as Israeli forces bombed the building that housed the Associated Press News Agency and Al Jazeera.

The Israeli forces bombed the offices which house the Associated Press News Agency and Al Jazeera, in Gaza, alleging that Hamas' Military Intelligence was operating in the building.

Twelve Associated Press staffers were working and resting in the bureau when the Israeli military telephoned a warning giving occupants of the building one hour to evacuate.  The Associated Press journalist, Fares Akram, told the press how he escaped the building.  He said he saw his colleagues donning helmets and protective vests and shouting "Evacuate, evacuate!"

"The Israeli military, I learnt later, had targeted our building for destruction, offering a brief advance warning to residents and occupants to get out hurridly.  I was told that I had 10 minutes to leave.!
